This paper examines the effect of the global financial crisis on a group of developing countries. It consists of 10 country studies conducted by more than 40 locally and internationally based researchers. The research focuses on the main transmission belts (trade, private capital flows, remittances and aid) through which the crisis affects developing countries. It also examines the growth and development effects of policy responses so far. The authors argue that the slowdown in growth comes after a period of strong growth for developing countries and puts development success stories in danger.
