This study identifies correlates of premarital sex as an important form of risk-taking among Thai youth. To understand the youth with premarital and unsafe sex, it takes into account factors at both the individual and family level. It discusses family influence on youth, and groups this influence in four broad types: parental characteristics, family structure, family process and individual characteristics. The study is based on data from Thailand’s 1994 Family and Youth Survey (FAYS).
