This paper examines the impact of the global financial crisis on trade flows from the developing world. The authors argue that although commodity prices have tumbled and global growth projections have been revised downward, US and EU demand for single commodities from the developing world as a whole, or select developing countries, has not yet resulted in a clear negative trend in export flows. The authors expect clearer volume trends to emerge in the coming months, and project that South-South trade in particular will suffer.
