Publication

This paper looks at the EU’s Eastern Partnership project that was launched at its summit in Prague in May 2009. It outlines the challenges the EU faces in its Eastern neighborhood, introduces the provisions of the Eastern Partnership and examines Russia’s position in the region. The author argues that the divergent interests of the EU, Russia and the US bear the risk of increasing competition for spheres of influence in the post-Soviet space.
