This paper considers the advantages and insights, as well as data requirements, of the life-course approach as applied in the study of adolescent risk-taking behavior and its consequences in Asian societies. It discusses the transition to adulthood based on data drawn from young adult reproductive health (YARH) surveys. Further, it introduces some of the relevant Asian experiences by reviewing the kind of life-event information that has been obtained from youth respondents in Asian surveys.
