This brief examines US drone attacks on militants in Pakistan and asks some critical questions about US and Pakistani strategy. In face of many civilian casualties, why should the Obama administration continue the drone attacks contrary to popular expectations and against its own ally Pakistan? Why should Pakistan make meek objections but submit eventually? Will the attacks continue and expand into other areas as some American reports have indicated?
