This book narrates the evolution of civil-military relations in Argentina from the late 1970s through 1999. The author explores the contributions of the political culture, state and political economy triangle to the description and explanation of civil-military relations and gives a historical perspective of civil-military relations in Argentina as a basis for understanding the antecedents of the contemporary relationships. He then examines civil-military relations in the Alfonsín administration and comparies it to the first Menem administration.
