This paper sets out the views of two analysts, one American and one Australian, on the developing relationship between US President Barack Obama and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and the kind of alliance over which they will preside. The authors focus on how the fact that the alliance is now in the hands of a Democratic president and a Labour prime minister will change the bilateral relationship.
