This study examines the prospects of natural resources research to address poverty. It discusses poverty from a capital asset perspective. It then suggests a framework to focus natural resources research and asks how this can achieve poverty reduction. The authors conclude by listing the requirements of the capital asset approach that need to be incorporated in future natural resources research.
