This report examines the structural and institutional factors affecting the development of a market economy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It focuses on the country's capacity to cope with competitive pressure and market forces within the EU. The authors present the EU's Copenhagen criteria in a comparative way, highlighting the experiences of member states and acceding countries. They compare macroeconomic developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina with other EU candidate countries, focusing on challenges in labor market and foreign trade. They analyze the privatization process, one of the most important institutional and structural features of a transition economy for meeting the Copenhagen criteria.
