This report analyzes a number of issues that have arisen as a result of the EU's eastern expansion. The authors examine the new member states' approach to the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy and argue that relations with the US will not create a dividing line between old and new EU members. Finally, the authors discuss relations between the EU and Russia in the light the role of the new, Eastern member states.
