This book focuses on missile defense. It surveys the missile defense ambitions and capabilities of the US, Russia, Israel and India, and looks at the outlook for US national missile defense (NMD) following President Bill Clinton's 1 September 2000 decision to delay deployment. It also considers the utility of confidence-building measures to temper insecurities that arise between countries interested in pursuing missile defense and chronicles the history of missile defense initiatives.
