This book presents papers from a 2008 conference on the misperceptions standing in the way of Turkish accession to the EU. From the various contributions, it emerges that the EU is impatient about the pace of reforms in Turkey, which nevertheless are remarkable. Meanwhile, the authors argue, Turkey feels that the EU is treating it unfairly, holding it to different standards than Bulgaria, Romania and other countries that recently joined the Union.
