This publication provides an overview of the ways in which academic literature addresses the question of how the educational inclusion and exclusion of migrants and ethnic minorities affects their political participation. The author presents an account of the main academic views on the connection between the role of education as a component of social inclusion in European society and the political participation of these vulnerable groups. She then identifies, groups and assesses the arguments raised in these analyses according to whether they deem education to have an exclusionary or a transformative effect on political participation.
