This article gives an overview of the characteristics of the educational system in Luxembourg. The author highlights the challenges to the education system as a result of Luxembourg having three national languages - Luxembourgish, French and German - combined with the presence of a large foreign population in the country. He argues that with three languages of instruction at school and another mother tongue spoken at home, many pupils of foreign backgrounds face considerable difficulties. The author then assesses the measures taken to remedy this problem, including integration classes.
