This policy brief examines public attitudes towards members of parliament (MPs), and indirectly towards the electoral system in South Africa. It finds that the system does not enjoy a high level of popular dissatisfaction, particularly in comparison with other countries. However, though many South Africans are not fully satisfied with their MPs and their accessibility, they do not appear to be more dissatisfied than other Africans. According to the authors, this suggests that electoral reform may not be a high priority for many South Africans.
