This book offers a conceptual pathway for US policymakers to begin recalibrating America's security role to reverse what has appeared to be a widening gap between US ends and means in the security realm. It explains the complex security environment and how the US can begin the process of strategic adaptation. While international security requires active engagement by the US, the author notes, the character of that engagement is changing along with an increasingly complex global environment.
