This paper argues that US interests in Southeast Asia would be well served by increased cooperation with Cambodia on security issues. The author places relations with Cambodia in a historical context, discussing the emergence of the post-war Cambodian state and the development of US-Cambodia military relations. He outlines Cambodia's journey to becoming a responsible regional actor and presents various ways in which the US can help Cambodia continue with the process of state rebuilding.
