This paper assesses the impact of the Euro on the trade performance of European Monetary Union (EMU) countries during its first year in circulation. It finds that the Euro's adoption has had a positive but not exorbitant impact on bilateral trade - estimated percentage increases range between 2.6 and 6.3 percent nationally.
