The Euphrates and Tigris rivers have been a source of tension between Iraq and its neighbors for generations. In this context, this Peace Brief outlines the threats posed by poor water management in the Tigris-Euphrates basin to Iraq and the region at large. It also describes the political interests that underlie the current deadlock, and the role that regional scientific collaboration can play in creating sustainable diplomatic solutions to these issues.
