This contribution to the analytical challenges of evaluating corporate engagement in conflict zones will focus on the selection of appropriate evaluation criteria. In what follows I will argue that the intuitively plausible categorization of corporate behavior - from "do no harm" to "pro-active engagement" - gives rise to some misunderstanding and that several choices have to be made with regard to the focus of their application.
