This FIIA report is a multidisciplinary endeavor to understand the present dynamics and shed light on the future challenges of water security in the Levantine part of the Middle East. Its central message is that the region is in dire need of sound water management policies and practices that are based on multi-stakeholder engagement and transboundary cooperation. Without a proactive approach that breaks with the current wasteful consumption patterns, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Turkey, the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel will not achieve water sustainability, with potentially disastrous ramifications in the near future.
