In this newsletter the author questions the utility and purpose of what he calls President Vladimir Putin's policy of "Chechenization". This term refers to Moscow's new policy in the North Caucasian Republic. The author argues that this policy is mentioned frequently in academic works and the media, relatively little has been communicated about its intended purpose. This is but one of the reasons many in the West remain confused about the present state of affairs in Chechnya.
