Along with unease over Muslim immigrants in Europe, a heated debate arose over European Muslims, their rights, duties and identity. Questions about how many potential terrorists were living in Europe, why Muslims seemingly were not adapting to the Western societies they lived in came to the forefront of numerous discussions in media, research, politics and among the public in general.
