This brief focuses primarily on the leadership structure and selection processes of the IMF and the World Bank. It argues that the ability of International Financial Institutions (IFIs) to remain legitimate and effective in a changing world will require increased stakeholder representation and a more balanced leadership selection process. Implementing these reforms will therefore allow the IFIs to more adequately reflect the new global economy and continue to promote prosperity around the world.
