This report looks at physical violence in parts of Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago in the Southern Philippines. For the past four decades these regions were shaped by a seemingly never-ending armed quest for self-determination, which resulted in probably more than 100,000 civilian deaths and millions of people who were driven off their land not only once, but several times.
