This brief discusses the peace process between the government of Pakistan and the militants (tribal and foreign) in Warizistan. The author highlights the problems of the 'Shakai Agreement' reached between the Pakistani government and the rebels in April 2004, discusses the efforts of the Pakistani government to develop tribal regions, and examines the role of the US as well as the implications of the situation in Waziristan for India.
