This brief discusses Nepal's efforts to fight the Maoist rebels and to manage the overall political, economic and security situation in the country. The author analyzes important developments in fighting Maoist terrorism and elaborates the implications of Nepal's instability for India. He concludes that the likelihood of any durable breakthrough in the foreseeable future is very limited.
