This paper discusses the nuclear dispute between the US and India and the so-called nuclear deal of 2008. This agreement re-integrated India into international civil nuclear trade even though India remains outside of the most important institutions of the global nonproliferation regime. The author assesses the nuclear deal and elaborates its risks, prospects and possible alternatives.
