This report examines Australia's foreign policy towards China under Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. It discusses the implications of China’s economic as well as military rise for the Australian alliance with the United States and provides critical analysis of important and controversial policies initiated by Rudd in this area, such as the proposed "Asian Pacific Community" and the Defence White Paper of 2009.
