This report overviews the current roles of drones and other unmanned military systems, the problems associated with over-relying on them, and how they might evolve in the future. It also discusses the possibility of subjecting these robotic systems to arms control measures or other forms of regulation, although their perceived short-term benefits make these prospects unrealistic.
