This paper examines the Non-Traditional Agricultural Products Trade Promotion Programme (PFCANT), a government-sponsored programme developed to promote trade in niche products in Mexico. It looks at the different components of the programme, and at how it has contributed towards competition in international markets and poverty reduction. Finally, the paper draws general lessons from these experiences.
