This paper examines the International Development Law Organization's (IDLO) response to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami. While IDLO has substantial know-how in post-conflict reconstruction, 'post-disaster' response, the authors argue, is a new avenue for IDLO. Although, some lessons from IDLO's post-conflict experience may apply, the legal issues that stem from traumatic natural catastrophes are markedly different. In the final section offers some lessons learned from the Tsunami Victims Missions.
