This chapter examines the central role legal empowerment has in advancing the human rights of people living with and vulnerable to HIV. The authors explore how HIV legal empowerment strategies are evolving and the challenges they still face and argue that this empowerment leads to more effective outcomes in HIV prevention, treatment and care.
