This paper looks at the different ways in which private investors can participate in the execution of the flexibility mechanisms in the Kyoto Protocol. It also examines the problems that the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol could create for protecting investments. Finally, the paper proposes some recommendations on how the Kyoto Protocol and investment protection objectives could be reconciled and even made to reinforce each other.
