The author of this book addresses the decline of the US military power. He warns that inattention and neglect, rather than strategic contraction of its power, might be the driver behind the decline. The current reduction is, in fact, critically and historically different from other postwar decreases. Therefore, the military' decline and disarray should be prevented - its fate should not be consigned to "in irons".
