At first glance, the victory of the Islamist Parti de la Justice et du Développement in Morocco's parliamentary elections in November 2011 appears to be a qualitative change in the political scene. This is because for many Moroccans, it symbolizes the start of a promising phase of Morocco's democratization process. However, the author argues that this does not necessarily mean a radical transformation of the Moroccan political system.
