Based on case studies of migrants in five European countries, this paper discusses the role that diaspora communities play in development and peace-building in Africa. The document is based on experiences with various diaspora communities in Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Norway. It is divided into three main parts: Chapter 2 provides general background information. Chapter 3 discusses specific issues pertaining to peacebuilding and working with diasporas from conflict regions. Finally, Chapter 4 provides an overview of all activities focused on engaging diasporas in peacebuilding and development.
