This report presents the results of a study to quantify the risk posed by earthquake, flood, landslide, cyclone and tropical storm, tsunami, drought, and intrastate conflict in the Asia-Pacific countries. Natural hazards affect many countries in Asia causing about two-thirds of the total global mortality in the period 1980-2000. Asian countries also accounted for one-third of all battle-related casualties during the past 25 years.
