This study analyses the differences between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot media content, television discourses, and newspapers, related to the Cyprus Problem, political actors, the authorities and political parties. The authors find that significant issues were completely ignored; conversely, events with the slightest reference or relation to the Cyprus Issue were upgraded and turned into important news. This showed how the ʻpicturesʼ of mediated reality that reached the minds of the public were largely constructed on the basis of the authoritiesʼ or elitesʼ agendas.
