This paper examines the many governance challenges the forestry sector faces in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The sector is characterized by corrupt practices and a culture of impunity. Furthermore, there is insufficient institutional capacity for forest management, and a huge gap between policy and practice. The author offers some recommendations how to tackle these challenges.
