This report is the result of a bipartisan Independent Task Force convened to address US trade and investment policy. The report calls on the US administration and Congress to adopt trade and investment policies that maximize benefits to the American people and US foreign policy from global economic engagement. The trade agenda outlined in this report stands on seven pillars: an ambitious trade-negotiations agenda; a National Investment Initiative; robust and strategic trade enforcement effort; export promotion; trade to foster development in poorer countries; worker adjustment and retraining policies; and a new deal between Congress and the president on trade-opening agreements.
