This report suggests a new approach to US policy vis-à-vis Iran, in light of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, and continued questions about Iran's nuclear program. The authors reject the conventional wisdom that Iran is on the verge of another revolution, and call for the US to reassess its long-standing policy of non-engagement with the Iranian government. The report highlights several areas in which US interests would be better served by selective engagement with Tehran. It concludes that dealing with Iran will constitute one of the most complex and pressing challenges facing future US administrations.
