This paper exploits an survey of 250 Chines enterprises doing business in North Korea to analyze the precise nature of emerging Chinese-North Korea inter-firm relations and the implicit hypotheses associated with deepening cross-border engagement. Particular attention is given to relational contracting and the determinant of trust.
