This study constitutes the second part of a larger research project that focuses on violence and local models of conflict management in Haiti. The objectives were to identify local definitions of key concepts like violence, conflicts, state and government, and to better understand what Haitians describe as their ideal of "living together" and "living in peace" – essentially to understand the nature of the social bonds. The study identifies resources in the communities as well as challenges. The author also makes policy recommendations.
