This report analyzes the views of Egyptian policy makers, political parties, and NGOs on the management of the Rafah border. It further investigates interests in the tunnel economy, the construction of the underground steel barrier along the Egypt-Gaza border, and identifies key factors that impact on Egypt's operation of the Rafah border crossing. It presents findings from a succession of 55 interviews, which were carried out in the framework of understanding stakeholder agendas and concerns, to determine the factors that impact on the regular operation of the Rafah Crossing Point (RCP), and to anticipate effective border management strategies at Rafah.
