This report provides an outlook on the future of US-European relations. The authors explain that despite the absence of the Soviet threat, both sides continue to share enduring vital interests and face common sets of challenges, both in Europe and beyond. The report explains that these challenges are so diverse that neither the US nor its European allies can adequately address such regional and global concerns alone, especially in light of growing domestic constraints on the implementation of foreign policy. The authors state that promoting shared interests and managing common threats to the West will necessitate not only continued cooperation, but also a broader and more comprehensive transatlantic partnership than in the past.
