This report discusses ways of improving United States influence at the United Nations. It calls for a new strategy to better advance American interests and values with three key goals in mind: supporting democracy and democratic principles throughout the world; advancing human rights; and fighting terrorism. To be more effective, the authors argue that the US should engage in more outreach at the UN to create a coalition of like-minded democratic states and establish multiparty democracy as a basic human right. They further call on the US to lead the way for a reform of the UN Human Rights Commission.
