This paper examines US public and private funding in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. An estimated $9 billion has been spent on disaster recovery since the earthquake and of that, $2.25 billion in public funding has been disbursed by the United States alone. Despite the large amount of public money involved, the authors argue it is nearly impossible to track how it has been spent and what has been achieved. They conclude that the US must improve the transparency and accountability associated to it spending in the country.
