This commentary analyzes the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) transfer of power to the new generation of leaders. The author argues that the choice of leadership reveals CCP priorities which include the economy, domestic security and modernization of the armed forces. He posits that China will continue trying to establish dominance in the Asia-Pacific, while insulating and preserving its relationship with the US and strengthening ties with Russia.
